Hospital coverage is included in Original Medicare Part A. Visits – Stays – Home – Hospice are included in the coverage. Medicare Part A is typically required in order to enroll in most parts.
Original Medicare Part B is optional, although some people are automatically enrolled,and then given a chance to opt out. Preventive – Diagnostic – Treatment Services are included in the coverage.
Medicare Advantage Plans are not included in Original Medicare. This is an approved plan from a private company that offers an alternative to Original Medicare. These “bundled” plans include Part A, Part B, and usually Part D.
All Part D plans must cover a wide range of prescription drugs, though plans drug lists may differ. Prescription drugs in different levels are called “tiers”. For example, a drug in a lower tier will generally cost you less than a drug in a higher tier.
